Environmental protection and sustainable mobility: a step forward for Arania
The Arania Group reinforces its commitment to environmental conservation through the official activation of the Guarantee of Renewable Origin (GoO) certificate. This certification guarantees that the electrical energy used to produce our rolled steel and the manufacture of the Group’s products comes from renewable energy sources. An eye on the future: Arania supports sustainable mobility at its facilities with the installation of a fast-charging point for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
We recentrly highlighted Arania’s strong commitment to environmental protection with the activation of the Guarantees of Origin (GoO). These certifications, issued in Spain by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), confirm that the Arania Group develops its production processes using renewable energies. This enables the company to provide detailed information to its customers, suppliers and partners on the origin of the energy consumed as well as the environmental impact generated in the manufacturing cycle of its products.
Over the last century, the preservation of natural resources and caring for the environment have become increasingly embedded in people’s collective thinking worldwide. Both at European and corporate level, sustainable development goals are increasingly ambitious. In general, industrial activities have a strong dependence on energy, and therefore it is crucial to focus on energy cost savings and energy efficiency as much as possible.
As part of Arania’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, the company has begun to develop different actions and projects with the aim of reducing its environmental footprint in terms of CO2 emissions.
For example, as part of this action plan, we have already received the first hot-rolled coil produced with an innovative and more sustainable technology. The source material for this coil comes from the new SALCOS programme in Salzgitter (Germany) resulting in a total emission reduction of 71% compared to conventionally produced hot-rolled coils.
Arania’s priority is to always achieve the highest quality in order to extend the service life of all our rolled steel products. Steel itself, an integral part of our industrial DNA, is considered one of the most sustainable materials on the planet. Unlike other alloys, steel presents the highest recycling recovery rate (98%), and when properly treated, its properties can be kept intact throughout its lifetime, yet it can be easily recycled.
As part of Arania’s commitment to the environment and to effectively promote sustainable mobility, we have installed a fast charging point at our facilities, suitable for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, allowing two vehicles to be charged at the same time.
The procedure is very simple: the user only needs to request an access control card to activate the charging point. The system is very easy to use and ergonomic to operate, and the instructions can be found on the equipment itself. Charging points will be free during 2021 and 2022 in order to promote sustainable mobility and the use of electric vehicles in the company. The increase in the number of charging points and the possibility of implementing these devices in workplaces are essential for the development of low-polluting vehicles.
Since its foundation in 1940, the Arania Group has always maintained its commitment to developing more advanced processes with a clear long-term vision in terms of management of its production-technological processes, not forgetting its most important asset: people and their welfare within the Group itself. The sustainable development goals provide industrial value to society through our activities and our environmental commitment, strengthening our reputation and relationships with partners, customers, suppliers and institutions.
