In addition, we have adapted our standards to the new version of ISO 50001:2018.
Arania has recently completed a general update of different industry standards and ISO certifications related to safety, quality, environmental protection and energy efficiency. After successfully passing all internal and external audits, Arania certifies its good practices with the renewal of the following ISO certifications: ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), IATF 16949:2016 (specific to the automotive industry), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) and finally ISO 50001:2018 (related to energy efficiency).
More specifically, in addition to the ISO certifications renewal, it is worth highlighting the excellent results in several areas, such as strategic planning, management of new customers, purchasing, HR development, maintenance, laboratory, subcontractor development, IT, cybersecurity… Also, several areas for improvement have been identified, which will be addressed immediately by the corresponding teams.
Last September, we explained the characteristics of the ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications obtained by Arania, related to the Occupational Health and Safety Management System and the Environmental Management Systems (EMS), respectively. We now describe the content ant the aim of these ISO certifications renewals, which will ultimately lead to further growth as a benchmark for quality in the rolled steel and automotive sector.
ISO 9001 is the international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS), and the most widely used reference in national and international customer/supplier relations. In this type of exchanges, ISO 9001 is the universal language in many sectors and has special importance for exporting companies such as Arania, demonstrating their ability to meet the needs of their customers wherever they may be.
By implementing regulatory requirements for the organisation’s day-to-day decision-making, this ISO certification helps Arania to carry out a continuous improvement of quality through the optimisation of different areas.
The automotive industry demands the highest levels of product quality, productivity and competitiveness in a continuous improvement dynamics. To achieve this goal, many vehicle manufacturers require their suppliers to be certified to the Quality Management Standard for the Automotive Industry – IATF 16949.
This standard is essential as it contains additional requirements specific to the automotive industry.
The IATF 16949 certification for Automotive Quality Management upgrades Arania’s standards as a supplier to the most renowned manufacturers:
- Global automotive supplier recognition and access to international markets in the automotive supply chain.
- Risk-based approach in order to reduce risks and improve opportunity management.
- Comprehensive management of specific customer requirements.
- Increased commitment in management.
ISO 50001 is the recently revised standard for energy management, providing a solid framework for optimising energy efficiency in public and private organisations. This standard demonstrates Arania’s commitment to continuous improvement in energy management, certifying good practices as a benchmark in the cold-rolled steel sector and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
Here are some of the advantages of implementing this ISO 50001 standard:
- Energy efficiency booster.
- Reduction of environmental impacts, especially CO2 atmospheric emissions.
- Energy saving, and consequently cost reducing: better and more efficient energy management, less waste… and more efficiency.
- Compliance with energy regulations: avoid penalties and reduce insurance premiums.
- Encourage the use of renewable energy.
- Strengthen the organisation’s image on environmental issues, leading to improved access to new customers and business partners.
